Mary-Helen Lockton joins the association from the Real Estate Institute of Queensland where she most recently served as membership and customer relationship manager, overseeing membership, customer service, events, communications and engagement.
She has also held leadership roles at the Local Government Association of Queensland, NSW Farmers’ Association and ING Australia, with experience spanning membership organisations, customer engagement, marketing, events and advocacy.
FBAA CEO Leo Gagic said Lockton’s experience would help the association respond to brokers’ needs and develop its member services.
“Mary-Helen understands how membership organisations work and how to deliver services and support that members value,” Gagic said.
“Her experience will help us build closer relationships with brokers, respond to their changing needs and ensure they get the most from their FBAA membership.”
Lockton said understanding members’ priorities would be central to her role.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know our members and understanding what matters most to them in their businesses,” she said.
“That will help us build on the support the FBAA already provides and identify opportunities to make membership even more valuable.”
The appointment follows recent executive leadership changes at the FBAA across financial management, compliance, digital innovation and commercial strategy.
In June, Melbourne-based executive Leo Gagic assumed the role of CEO after the departure of long-serving managing director Peter White AM.
At the same time, Nick Sherry stepped into the role of independent chairperson.
