ANZ has announced the appointment of its former global head of loan syndications, John Corrin as its new head of corporate finance, international.
According to ANZ, the corporate finance unit was newly created in June 2020 within the institutional division and is headed by Christina Tonkin in Sydney.
The business includes sustainable finance, asset finance, leveraged finance, project finance, export finance, loan syndications, and corporate advisory, as well as resources, energy, and infrastructure relationship teams.
In the newly established role and in what represents a promotion, Mr Corrin will be overseeing the bank’s corporate financing business outside of its home markets of Australia and New Zealand.
The role will expand his responsibilities at the bank, which covers all structured lending products in the 31 international markets ANZ operates in outside of Australia and New Zealand.
Mr Corrin had previously been covering the remit of this function in addition to his previous role when Richard Dawson, who previously covered this role, moved to the UK chief executive role last year. Mr Corrin’s title has now officially changed to his new role after the business unit was restructured, ANZ told Mortgage Business.
Mr Corrin will jointly report to managing director, corporate finance, Ms Tonkin, and group executive, international, Farhan Faruqui.
Mr Corrin has more than 30 years of experience in financial services across Asia and the UK, with more than 10 years at ANZ.
Prior to being appointed to his new role, he was head of loan syndications for ANZ’s international business.
He will continue to be based in Hong Kong.
Commenting on his appointment, Ms Tonkin said: “We are pleased to have John’s experience and market expertise lead ANZ’s corporate finance business across our international network, particularly as our customers work through unprecedented challenges resulting from COVID-19.”
In addition to Mr Corrin’s appointment, ANZ announced that Gavin Chappell, currently head of loan syndications for the Australian business, has also had his responsibilities expanded to leading the bank’s global loan underwriting activities.
Mr Chappell will continue to be based in Sydney, and will report to Ms Tonkin.
