People’s Choice continues support for world-class event

People’s Choice Credit Union has extended its sponsorship of an elite cycling event for a further three years as well as its support for the event’s charity.

The lender will sponsor the People’s Choice Classic – a race that attracts some of the world’s greatest cyclists to take to the streets of Adelaide, heralding the start of the Santos Tour Down Under.

“The People’s Choice Classic sets the stage for a week of cycling excitement for hundreds of thousands of live spectators and millions more viewing the televised tour around the world each year,” Steve Laidlaw, CEO of People’s Choice, said.

“We’ve loved being involved with this world-class event over the past three years because it delivers so much benefit to the South Australian community and economy, while providing fantastic exposure for our brand across Australia.”

Mr Laidlaw said the sponsorship has also allowed the lender to support the tour’s charity partner, Cancer Council SA, through its introduction of the People’s Choice Undies Run for Bowel Cancer, which has raised close to $500,000.

Hitaf Rasheed, general manager of Events South Australia, welcomed the sponsorship extension.

“People’s Choice has wholeheartedly embraced its sponsorship of the Santos Tour Down Under, and its introduction of the People’s Choice Undies Run for Bowel Cancer has been a great addition to the broader festival and community impact of the event,” she said.

“We’re thrilled to have the credit union on board for a further three years. People’s Choice is a company with its headquarters in South Australia achieving success nationally and contributing much to the community. We believe our organisations and objectives for growth for the good of our state are nicely aligned.”
