Most Australians don’t trust bank managers

Roy Morgan’s Image of Professions Survey 2015 found that only 34 per cent of Australians see bank management as an ethical and honest profession – down 9 percentage points from 2014.

The survey revealed that accounting is the most ethical and honest of the finance occupations according to 45 per cent of Australians, while just 24 per cent consider financial planners as moral and trustworthy.

Customers have even less trust in stock brokers and insurance brokers, with 12 per cent and 11 per cent of Australians respectively regarding these professions as ethical and honest.

Only 9 per cent of Australians see real estate agents as ethical and honest – the worst of the finance professions.

The top five most ethical and trusted professions were nurses (92 per cent), pharmacists (84 per cent), doctors (84 per cent), school teachers (78 per cent) and engineers (74 per cent).
