Bendigo Bank to combat climate change

Bendigo Bank has announced a new partnership to help raise awareness on climate change.

The regional bank will partner with Earth Hour for its 2016 campaign and engage with staff, customers and local communities to kickstart projects that help to protect the environment.

Bendigo Bank executive Alexandra Tullio said the group threw its support behind Earth Hour as it recognises the link between a healthy economy and a healthy environment.

“Our head office in Bendigo was the first five-star green star building in regional Australia, while our Adelaide office is the first bank building in South Australia to receive a five-star energy rating for construction, design and interior fit-out,” Ms Tullio said.

“And as the first bank in Australia to offer specialty loans for environmentally-responsible products, we are excited to offer our green home loan, rewarding those who care about our planet.”

Samantha Webb, national manager of Earth Hour, said partnering with Bendigo Bank has brought to the fore the core values shared by both organisations.

“We know how important it is for business to come on board and take action on climate change,” Ms Webb said.

“We commend Bendigo for their journey towards sustainability and are again excited to have them on board as a major partner of Earth Hour in 2016.”
