The non-major bank has made an appointment to the newly created role of group general counsel and company secretary.

Bank of Queensland (BOQ) has appointed Nicholas Allton as group general counsel and company secretary.

His appointment is effective 1 February 2021, the non-major lender said in an announcement to the ASX.

Mr Allton has 25 years of experience in financial services, and is group general counsel and company secretary at MLC Australia. He was previously executive director, legal, head of prudential, Macquarie Asset Management, at Macquarie Group.

He has held various positions in the legal field, including associate to the Honourable Justice Byrne AO RFD at the Supreme Court of Queensland, senior associate at Blake Dawson and senior assistant solicitor at Slaughter and May in London.

BOQ also said that Fiona Daly will continue as company secretary.

Both Mr Allton and Ms Daly will be responsible for communications with the ASX.
