ASIC has declared the hires of new executives to its operations group.
Peter Dunlop, a previous deputy chief financial officer in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet has been named as ASIC’s new CFO.
Nicole Collins, who previously held senior people and culture roles at the Australian Tax Office and the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, has become chief people officer.
Meanwhile, former Qantas head of office for the group chief information officer and head of inclusion and diversity Zak Hammer is set to commence as executive director of operations from January.
Currently, she is wrapping up a two-year tenure as director of technology company Inform Software Corporation Australia.
All three will report to ASIC chief operating officer Warren Day.
ASIC chair Joe Longo commented the new recruitments’ combined experience and knowledge will “support ASIC to deliver our priorities to achieve a fair, strong and efficient financial system”.
“They will help us better identify and seize opportunities to enhance ASIC’s capabilities to work more efficiently and effectively in an environment that supports our people internally and our stakeholders externally,” Mr Longo said.
The regulator has also confirmed new appointments to the roles of regional commissioner in NSW, Victoria and Western Australia.
The regional commissioners are tasked with supporting ASIC’s staff locally and maintaining relationships with local stakeholders, including state governments, business and consumer groups.
Mark Adams, senior executive leader of strategic intelligence and coordinator of ASIC’s Innovation Hub has been appointed regional commissioner for NSW. He will take on the new role in addition to his existing positions.
John Wallace, senior executive leader of specialist services, will also take on the job of regional commissioner of Victoria.
Rhian Richards, who has a role in ASIC’s Modernising Business Registers program, has meanwhile been appointed as regional commission for Western Australia.
The appointments have followed consultations with the attorneys-general for the respective states, as required under the Corporations Agreement (2002).
“Our new regional commissioners join our current regional commissioners to provide leadership locally while contributing nationally to our regulatory and enforcement functions,” Mr Longo said.
“These senior executive and regional appointments enhance the capabilities of the senior leadership team and dedicated team members to deliver on our strategic priorities as outlined in ASIC’s 2021-2025 Corporate Plan.”
