Mortgage Choice highlighted the contributions made through the Mortgage Choice Charity Foundation (MCCF). Over the last financial year, it has raised over $360,000 for Australian charities. This includes $96,000 raised for the MCCF national charity partner Dolly’s Dream and over $264,000 raised for more than 50 local charities.
Donations are raised through voluntary broker contributions, with $5 from every loan going to the foundation. According to Mortgage Choice, over FY24, 92 per cent of its brokers opted in to contribute to the initiative, up from 83 per cent the year prior.
“We are so proud of the impact the Mortgage Choice Charity Foundation is having on the most vulnerable members of our communities,” said Mortgage Choice CEO Anthony Waldron.
“Our committee members have a strong desire to make a difference, bringing awareness to national and local charities, and rallying our network behind important causes. Not only do most of our brokers donate $5 for every loan they write, but many of them also generously donate their time volunteering with local charities.”
Launching in 2022, the MCCF is managed by a committee of franchise owners and backed by REA Group.
The charity partner for the financial year was Dolly’s Dream. This charity works to change the culture of bullying through education and support to young people and families.
Sally Sweeney, head of Dolly’s Dream, described the efforts made through the organisations as “truly incredible”.
“The Dolly’s Dream partnership with the Mortgage Choice Charity Foundation is truly incredible. Since 2023, we have achieved so much together and raised over $96,000,” said Sweeney.
“This partnership is helping to raise awareness of our anti-bullying programs, workshops and initiatives within the local community. Every act of kindness, every conversation and every effort made by the Mortgage Choice team truly counts in our movement to end bullying. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
As FY25 kicks off, Dolly’s Dream will continue to be the national partner of the MCCF. Donna Campbell, MCCF committee national chairperson outlined the importance of giving back to the community.
“I believe it is great for small-business owners to give back to the community. By volunteering time to help those less fortunate you gain a new perspective and a strong sense of purpose,” she said.
“Our Victorian franchisees have been volunteering at St Mary’s House of Welcome for several years, cooking BBQs for those in need. It’s so rewarding to hear the stories of the people who rely on St Mary’s and to see our impact firsthand. These experiences remind me how lucky we are to have food to eat and somewhere warm to sleep without struggles.”
