Former BT Financial CIO joins ING

The non-major has announced the appointment of a new CIO, just a day after appointing a new chair.

ING Australia has appointed Linda Da Silva as its new chief information officer (CIO) and as a member of its executive committee.

Ms Da Silva replaces Ani Paul, who has been appointed as ING’s global chief data officer and will be based in Amsterdam.

The new CIO joins ING from Westpac, where she has served for over 10 years, most recently serving as CIO of its subsidiary BT Financial Group.

Ms Da Silva holds over 20 years of experience in IT consulting, with leadership roles in Australia, Asia, the Middle East and the UK.

ING Australia CEO Uday Sareen welcomed Ms Da Silva to the bank, adding that it would assist ING in the scaling of its digital capabilities across products and services.

“I welcome Linda to the team. She has the experience and skills to help accelerate our digital transformation and further differentiate our offering to customers,” he said.

Ms Da Silva’s appointment as CIO follows the appointment of John Laker AO as chair of ING Australia.

Mr Laker replaces Michael Katz, who is retiring after over 10 years of service to the bank.
