The Australian Taxation Office, ASBFEO and Reckon are joining our sister title, My Business, in a free, live and interactive event to discuss how the JobKeeper scheme affects businesses.

Momentum Media’s small-business brand, My Business, has announced that it is hosting a series of webcasts and webinars designed to help business owners stay connected to top-of-mind SME issues, discover practical solutions to everyday problems and assist with their COVID-19 response.

The inaugural webcast, to be held on Tuesday (5 May) and partnered by Reckon, will address how the JobKeeper scheme affects small businesses, plus the steps they must take to guarantee they are part of the scheme.

This free, live and interactive event is an opportunity to hear from Deborah Jenkins, Deputy Commissioner from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO); Kate Carnell, the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO), and Sam Allert, managing director of Reckon.

Discussing all elements of the government’s $130-billion stimulus measure, this panel will delve into how businesses can apply for JobKeeper (and why they should do it now), how the banks can help in the interim, how the “one in, all in rule” affects SMEs, as well as the key dates, monthly duties and more.

Recognising the pivotal role communication plays in the fight against COVID-19, this webcast will give business owners a chance to put their questions to the panel and connect with like-minded individuals.

“Listening to our small to medium business community, we have found that JobKeeper still remains a major grey area for many business owners,” said My Business editor Maja Garaca Djurdjevic.

“With the potential to determine if a business floats or sinks, we feel it is hugely important for business owners to have the right information regarding this measure and a chance to put their questions straight to the experts.”

The jam-packed agenda will also include information on the new commercial tenancy code of conduct and tips on how to process a pay run under JobKeeper.
