Commenting on the appointment, Mr Walsh said he is pleased that Mr Blomfield is joining Iress in the role.

“The new role reflects our focus on scale, consistency and delivery, particularly where clients have increasingly similar needs,” Mr Walsh said.

“We also continue to focus on improving the client experience, and a focussed strategic approach to this is important to Iress and our clients.

“Michael is an experienced financial services leader with extensive international experience, including in Asia Pacific, the United Kingdom and the US.”

Mr Blomfield joined Investment Trends six years ago, and has held the role of CEO for over four years. The research group provides insights to financial services businesses in Australia, Asia, Europe, US and the UK.

Prior to this, he worked at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) for 10 years, and held various roles during this time, including general manager, CommSec;, general manager, equities;, and executive general manager, local business banking.

He was also managing director, Asia Pacific, at MF Global, where he was responsible for all of its Asian operations across Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Australia, Japan, India, Dubai, and Mauritius.

“Michael will bring a strong focus to sales capability and client experience supported by his international and industry experience,” Mr Walsh said.

The roles and responsibilities of managing directors, who will report to the chief commercial officer, are unchanged.

Commenting on his new role and his departure from Investment Trends, Mr Blomfield said on LinkedIn: “I can’t wait to get started and contribute to the journey of another enormously successful and world- class organisation.

“The test of an executive should be 50 per cent about what they achieve in their role and 50 per cent about how a business performs after their departure.

“I’m extremely confident that Investment Trends is beautifully set up to continue to grow and thrive as one of the world’s leading wealth management market researchers.”
