Suncorp announces a new office hub in Townsville, creating 120 jobs and forming a partnership with the North Queensland Cowboys.

Suncorp has unveiled plans to open a new office hub in Townsville, further cementing its commitment to regional Queensland. The move will create 120 new jobs over the next two years, boosting the local economy and supporting the growing needs of Suncorp’s customers in the region.

The announcement was made at the Hutchinson Builders Centre, home to the North Queensland Cowboys, where Suncorp CEO Steve Johnston revealed the new hub would focus on sales and service operations, expanding on the existing team of 40 people based in the area.

“We’re proud to be a Queensland organisation, and today’s announcement reinforces our commitment and investment in our home state,” Johnston said.

“North Queensland is vibrant and growing, and we could think of no better partner than the Cowboys to help us support this important region.”

The new Townsville hub, located at 22 Walker Street, will also serve as a pop-up disaster management centre in the event of extreme weather, allowing Suncorp to mobilise its workforce locally to support affected communities.

“Our workforce in North Queensland will grow to 160 people, which will help us meet the growing needs of our customers,” Johnston said.

“This also strengthens our ability to respond swiftly in times of crisis, as this hub can quickly transform into a disaster management centre after major weather events.”

In addition to the new office hub, Suncorp has entered into a two-year partnership with the North Queensland Cowboys, becoming a major partner of the Cowboys’ NRL and NRLW programs.

Suncorp will also be the presenting partner of the Cowboys Game Participation Program, which supports schools, juniors, and regional and rural communities, as well as a partner of the Cowboys Community Foundation.

Cowboys CEO Jeff Reibel expressed his excitement about the partnership, highlighting the alignment between the two organisations.

“Our partnership with Suncorp represents a clear vision and strong alignment of values between our two organisations,” Reibel said.

“North Queenslanders are known for our toughness and resilience, and Suncorp has always been there, helping when people need it most.”

The Townsville hub is part of Suncorp’s $25 million commitment to jobs and investment following the sale of Suncorp Bank to the Queensland government.
