Mike Mortlock, managing director of MCG Quantity Surveyors, and Cate Bakos, director of Cate Bakos Property and former president of the Real Estate Buyers Agents Association of Australia, were unanimously elected to the roles.
Their appointments came following the resignation of Right Property Group’s Steve Waters, who served a decade as a voluntary board member, and Pure Property Investment’s Paul Glossop, who had a six-year tenure.
In announcing the new-look leadership group, PIPA chair Nicola McDougall paid tribute to the outgoing members’ “contributions, insights and efforts on behalf of our members and the wider property investment profession over the years”.
She warmly welcomed Mortlock and Bakos to the roles, stating her assurance that their combined decades of experience would be “highly beneficial to the profession and our membership during the continued evolution of the association”.
In joining the board, Mortlock cited his interest in working alongside the organisation to promote education, transparency, and integrity in the property investment sector.
“I am deeply honoured to be part of an association that not only fosters excellence within the industry, but also recognises the vital role that investors play in providing essential rental accommodation for communities across Australia,” Mortlock said.
“I look forward to contributing my expertise and working alongside fellow board members to further advance PIPA’s mission and continue serving the needs of both investors and consumers alike.”
On her part, Bakos said she was drawn to serve PIPA because of its dedication to professional standards.
“I know I have the energy and capacity to passionately advocate for our industry and am passionate about professional standards and consumer awareness,” Bakos commented.
“I believe that joining the PIPA board represents an exciting new challenge for me professionally, and I would love to contribute, enjoy personal growth, and see comrades also thrive in the organisation.”
